Account Executive
…One of my hospital clients has sent me 18 ads this morning so it’s straight into collating ad copy and media instructions, then I’ll edit content into one word document and put it into their composite advertisement template. I’ll also check out deadlines and column widths for the newspapers and prepare a schedule so that I can send the proof of the advertisement and the costs back to the client for approval. We’ll have some email conversation to take care of minor changes and while that’s happening I’ll be checking email for requests from my other eight clients who are also in the health and public sector.
I work a four day week so I’m super organised – if there’s anything that isn’t completed in that time, clients know that another member of my team will be properly briefed to see the job through.
Doing this job needs great admin skills rather than degree qualifications. Good grammar and spelling is a must, as is computer literacy but most of all I’d say you need to enjoy delivering an advertising service to clients, being part of a team and meeting deadlines.
